Forty Years of Aroha, Learning and Joyful Discovery: The Story of Kerikeri Kindergarten
Today, we celebrate. Not just the years, but the people, the values, the vision.

Nau mai, haere mai.
Nestled beneath the majestic Hurupaki Mountain beside Hurupaki Primary School in Kamo, Hurupaki Kindergarten offers a child-initiated programme with a focus on the children’s strengths and interests within a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
What We Offer
Our child-initiated programme is shaped by the strengths and interests of tamariki and supports children to become confident, capable learners through play and shared learning experiences.
We value whanaungatanga and believe respectful, trusting relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the wider community are at the heart of meaningful learning.
Families attend Hurupaki Kindergarten from Kamo, surrounding rural communities, and across Whangārei, creating a connected and welcoming kindergarten community.
We also value our close relationship with Hurupaki Primary School and the local community.
With large outdoor spaces and a strong connection to the environment, we respect the environment and encourage children to participate in the learning process of conservation.
As an Enviroschools kindergarten, we support children to care for the environment through sustainable practices including reducing waste, reusing, recycling, and learning about kaitiakitanga.
We have five fully qualified and fully registered teachers and a part time administrator / lunch cover all with current first aid certificates.
Our teaching team is passionate about creating a positive learning environment filled with fun, humour, and opportunities for children to thrive. We have a low teacher to child ratio of 1:10.
We welcome new enrolments and invite all whānau to come and visit our kindergarten community.
Kia pai tō rā. We look forward to meeting you.
