Forty Years of Aroha, Learning and Joyful Discovery: The Story of Kerikeri Kindergarten
Today, we celebrate. Not just the years, but the people, the values, the vision.

Located in central Whangārei, First Avenue Kindergarten provides early childhood education in an inclusive community where tamariki are encouraged to think independently, create, and gain confidence.
What We Offer
Our programme is shaped by the principles of Te Whāriki and encourages tamariki to become confident decision-makers through play and exploration.
We value te reo and tikanga Māori, ako, ngā hononga, and te taiao, recognising the importance of strong relationships, shared learning, and connection to the environment.
We believe every child should feel confident in their own identity and supported to develop positive attitudes towards learning.
Families attending First Avenue Kindergarten come from a diverse range of backgrounds, helping to create a welcoming and respectful kindergarten community where tamariki and whānau feel valued and included.
We have four qualified and registered teachers with current first aid certificates, and a part time office administrator.
Our kindergarten operates an open-door policy, we welcome all whānau to visit and become part of our kindergarten community.
