Forty Years of Aroha, Learning and Joyful Discovery: The Story of Kerikeri Kindergarten
Today, we celebrate. Not just the years, but the people, the values, the vision.
November 6, 2025

Nestled within the beautiful semi-rural Hikurangi community, Hikurangi Kindergarten offers a warm, nurturing, and enriching full-day programme for up to 30 children aged 2–6 years.
We pride ourselves on creating a place where tamariki feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day.
What We Offer
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
Guided by Te Whāriki, we foster respectful and responsive relationships with tamariki and whānau, creating a safe and empowering environment where children feel valued and supported in their learning journey.
We honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and celebrate Te Ao Māori through a rich bicultural programme grounded in the Hikairo Schema.
We embrace the unique strengths, cultures, and identities of every child and work alongside whānau to support their aspirations for learning and wellbeing.
Our dedicated team includes four fully qualified and registered teachers, all with current first aid certificates, along with a friendly office administrator available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
We believe tamariki thrive when they feel secure, valued, and free to explore at their own pace.
Our play-based, child-led curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
We embrace and celebrate each child’s unique strengths, culture, and identity, and we work closely with whānau to support and extend their aspirations.
Caring for Papatūānuku is woven into our daily life, and children learn to respect the natural environment around them
We operate with an open-door policy and love connecting with new families. If you're in the neighbourhood, please pop in to meet the team and see our beautiful kindy in action.
