Welcome to Hikurangi Kindergarten

Nestled in our beautiful semi-rural community, Hikurangi Kindergarten offers a warm, nurturing, and enriching full-day programme for up to 30 children aged 2–6 years. We pride ourselves on creating a place where tamariki feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day.

Our dedicated team includes four fully qualified and registered teachers, all with current first aid certificates, along with a friendly office administrator available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8.30am–2.00pm.

Our Hours & Structure

We are open Monday to Friday, 8.45am–2.45pm, operating on an All-Year Model. This means we remain open during the school holidays and close only for three weeks over Christmas—offering flexibility and consistency for whānau throughout the year.

Our Philosophy

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Grounded in the principles of Te Whāriki, we foster respectful, warm, and responsive connections with tamariki and their whānau.

We honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi by providing a rich bicultural learning environment that celebrates Te Ao Māori. The Hikairo Schema guides our practice, supporting us to create an inclusive, safe, and empowering space for all children.

Our Learning Environment

We believe tamariki thrive when they feel secure, valued, and free to explore at their own pace. Our play-based, child-led curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

We embrace and celebrate each child’s unique strengths, culture, and identity, and we work closely with whānau to support and extend their aspirations. Caring for Papatūānuku is woven into our daily life, and children learn to respect the natural environment around them.

Enrolments

You can enrol your child at any time from birth. If you have any questions, or would like to come in for a visit, we would love to hear from you.
