NKA welcomes student placements that support learning, build capability, and strengthen connections with students, training providers, and community partners.
Where possible, we offer meaningful learning opportunitieswhile keeping the safety, wellbeing, and continuity of care for tamariki andwhānau at the centre of everything we do.
Who we place
NKA accepts student placement requests from tertiary providers for students completing Level 7 and above. We prioritise supporting tauira based in Te Tai Tokerau (Northland) and welcome applications from providers including:
- Te Rito Maioha
- Open Polytechnic
- New Zealand universities
We may also consider requests from other providers by agreement. Please email us to discuss.
Practicum Placement Requests
NKA uses a simple request, review, and confirm process for all practicum placements.
Placement availability depends on kindergarten capacity, staffing, and the needs of tamariki and whānau at the time of the request.
Request: The tertiary provider completes the online "Request for Practicum Placement" form.
Review: On receipt of a request, the Professional Practice Leader consults with the kindergarten head teacher to confirm placement availability, the mentor teacher, and induction arrangements.
Confirm: Following review, the Professional Practice Team emails the training provider and kindergarten head teacher to confirm whether the placement can proceed. If approved, a Tertiary Provider Safety Check Declaration must be provided to support the request.
