Waitangi Kindergarten is located on whenua of deep cultural and historical significance, in close proximity to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and within walking distance of the beach. The kaupapa of the kindergarten strongly reflects this unique setting, embracing the local environment, history, and community as integral to the learning programme. This provides rich opportunities for tamariki to develop a strong sense of place, connection, and belonging, while learning in a setting that honours both the natural landscape and the cultural narratives that surround it.

The kindergarten has a team of four teachers and a part-time administrator, and operates five six-hour sessions, Monday to Friday. The service is licensed for up to 30 children aged between two and six years. Waitangi Kindergarten welcomes whānau from across the wider Bay of Islands community, including families from Russell to Kawakawa and surrounding areas.

 

Tikipunga Kindergarten runs five six-hour sessions, Monday to Friday, for up to 40 children aged two to six. It operates year-round for 48 weeks and is supported by a team of five kaiako and apart-time administrator.

Applicants must hold a recognised New Zealand ECE qualification (minimum Dip Teaching ECE), current practicing certificate and first aid certificate.
