Welcome to Selwyn Park
Our Kindergarten provides a warm, friendly and culturally sensitive environment for all children who attend. We provide a wide range of ‘free choice’ learning activities to enable children to develop at their own pace.
KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMME:
Our programme is planned to meet the interests, strengths and needs of the children’s intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. They have the opportunity to learn and play with and alongside other children under the skilled guidance of trained and registered teachers. We plan to Te Whariki – the National Early Childhood Curriculum, which is based around the principles: Hoslistic Development (Kotahitanga), Empowerment (Whakamana), Relationships (Nga Hononga), and Family and Community (Whanau Tangata), and which encompass the five strands:
WELL-BEING Mana Atua
BELONGING Mana Whenua
CONTRIBUTION Mana Tangata
COMMUNICATION Mana Reo
EXPLORATION Mana Aoturoa
A fundamental part of this is working in a ‘multicultural way’ in which all the cultures of Aotearoa are valued and acknowledged.
Our kindergarten runs two sessions times, all day 8.15 to 2.45 and morning 8.15 to 12.30 Monday to Thursday with Friday finishing at 12.30 for all children. We have adopted the government funded 20 hours a week free policy.
We have an open door policy and the staff Karlene, Christine, Raewyn and Claire welcome you to visit any time.
